AIG MCAA roster announced for final match of New Zealand Tour

WELLINGTON, New Zealand – Following two narrow defeats to New Zealand Universities and Heartland Championship club Wairarapa Bush during the past week, USA Rugby AIG Men’s Collegiate All-American Head Coach Matt Sherman has selected his squad for the rematch against New Zealand Universities Saturday at the Lower Hutt Rec in Wellington at 11:00 P.M. ET.

“We’ve had a bad storm here the last few days,” Sherman said. “Lots of wind and rain. While they expect it to die down tomorrow, conditions could still be tough.”

The MCAAs will first take in an exhibition Super 15 match between Wellington and Canterbury before taking on New Zealand Universities, who overcame a stingy MCAA team 17-10 Sunday.

“It’s been a great tour so far, we’ve learned a lot and we’ve gained some great experience in our first two games,” tour and match day captain Ryan Roundy said. “We’ve had glimpse of our potential and have played some great rugby, but a few too many mental lapses ultimately cost us the first two games. We have identified areas of the game we must dominate Saturday in order to finish the tour with a great win against New Zealand Universities and we’ll do everything that we can to do so. It will take a great team effort, but the guys are looking forward to the opportunity to end well and finish on a high note.”
