The Midwest Colleigate All-Stars won an absolute thriller to claim the 2011 Women's Collegiate All-Stars Championship. The Midwest backs were electric and were led by scrumhalf Brittany Houston.
The fantastic agility and athleticism of University of Indiana's Tyra McGrady kept the USA U20s in a state of constant concern as, at any point, McGrady can change direction and be at full speed in a matter of milliseconds. McGrady, who has had calls up to the USA Women's Sevens team, scored a try for her side, as did her speedster consort, Kaelene Lundstrom.
The USA U20s, despite being down by more than 14 points with the second half winding down, they threw everything they had at the Midwesterners and scored two last-gasp tries. A missed conversion could have won the U20s the title, however, the extras missed and Midwest secured victory.
Captain and All-American, Joanna Kitlinski (Grand Valley State Univ.), played very well in the win and showed that she can get around the pitch well, even dotting down a five-pointer for her side.
