Women's Eagles Sevens into Plate Semifinal following loss to Russia

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – The Women’s Eagles Sevens advanced to the Cup Quarterfinals of the Emirates Dubai Rugby Sevens, but failed to make it further with a 36-0 loss to Russia Friday.

Baizat Khamidova scored two tries and Nadezda Yarmotskaya scored 11 points with a try and three conversions to lead the Russians, who shut out England 12-0 in pool play.

The Russians used their size and speed from the get-go, as Khamidova ran from midfield to open the scoring in the second minute. Anastasila Mukhariamova broke a tackle a minute later and set up Nadezda Yarmotskaya for a long run of her own and the try.

The Eagles trailed 19-0 at the half and could not get anything going in the second frame, either. Eagles coach Ric Suggitt brought on Kathryn Johnson and Amelia Villines, but it was too late for any kind of comeback.

Khamidova scored her second try in the ninth minute and Ekaterina Kazakova and Marina Petrova finished the scoring before the final whistle for the shut-out win.

The Eagles will face England in the Plate Semifinal at 6:48 A.M. ET. Follow live updates on Twitter with @USARugby and watch live on the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series website.

Well watching the USA women's 7,s team against Russia was bloody disappointing ,if that's the best team Suggit can select then please go back to the drawing board and start again, better still someone tell the coach to do his job better and at least get his girls playing a with a plan, they looked bloody clueless.
