USA Women set for Amsterdam Sevens

AMSTERDAM -- The USA Women’s Eagle Sevens team will compete in the 2012 Amsterdam Sevens this weekend (May 19-20) and are set to take on Pool A opponents South Africa, Wales, and London Sevens champions England on Saturday May 19.

The tournament will be broadcast live on Amsterdam Sevens’s YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/amsterdamsevens?feature=guide).

The USA snatched the plate last weekend in London, and the young squad put in very impressive performances against France, Russia, and China.

Vanesha McGee, the most experienced player on the squad, helped lead the way for the younger players and was a regular on the score sheet.  Her compatriot and fellow Olympic Training Center resident, Bui Baravilala, was excellent as well.  The Hawaii native scored the game tying try as time expired and converted her score to hand her team the victory.

The Eagles will have their hands full with England as well as rapidly improving Welsh and South African teams.
