Braaten started playing rugby during her freshman year at Marquette University while also serving as a member of the practice squad on the basketball team. She was selected for the U19 England tour in 2004 and the U23 New Zealand Tour in 2007. Braaten was hired as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Marquette upon graduation while playing for Chicago North Shore. She moved to Minnesota to play with Twin Cities Amazons when the Women’s Premier League was formed. Braaten currently resides in Minneapolis as a full0time strength and conditioning coordinator at Totino-Grace High School. She has been a part of the Women’s Eagles pool since 2011, but missed out on the France Tour in 2012 with a torn ACL.
