BOULDER, Colo. – USA Rugby has announced its partnership with Rugby Athletic as the official sponsor for the USA Rugby Women’s Eagles Fall European Tour. Rugby Athletic comes to the Women’s Eagles as one of the premier rugby apparel providers in the U.S., outfitting rugby teams across the country with custom rugby uniforms and team equipment.
“Rugby Athletic has been a consistent champion of USA Rugby and contributes significantly to the grassroots growth of the game in the U.S.” said USA Rugby Chief Marketing Officer Pam Kosanke.
The support from Rugby Athletic affords the Women’s Eagles the chance to focus on training and competition during the tour.
Kosanke noted how “Rugby Athletic’s support of the USA Women’s National team is invaluable, and we are excited to partner with a company who will always go above and beyond the call of duty for the good of the game.”
“The players love the Rugby Athletic gear,” said USA Women’s National Team head coach Pete Steinberg. “It is exciting to have a partner that is so supportive of the Eagles and the women’s game.”
As the official sponsor, Rugby Athletic will also provide support for promotions and the development of highlight videos as part of USA Rugby’s social media strategy for the tour. One such strategy includes the creation of a new iPhone app that will be launched during the tour.
The exclusive app will be “powered by Rugby Athletic”, helping more fans follow the team’s progress in Europe through the latest breaking news.
“We are excited to be able to support the Women’s Eagles during their tour,” said Rugby Athletic’s Chris Babiash. “We are honored to be associated with these committed international athletes and it’s the least we can do to support their efforts as they prepare for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2014.”
Rugby Athletic is also encouraging fan participation as they will be giving away a merchandise package for every try scored by the Eagles while on tour. To win RA gear, fans should “Like”Rugby Athletic on Facebook. Winners will be announced at the end of each match!
