Tickets released for RWC Qualifier against Uruguay

BOULDER, Colo. – Ticket details for the IRB Rugby World Cup 2015 Qualifier playoff between the Men’s Eagles and Uruguay March 29, 2014, at Fifth Third Bank Stadium at Kennesaw State University have been released, USA Rugby announced today.

The match will serve as the second leg of the home-and-home series between the two teams, with Uruguay hosting the initial leg in Montevideo March 22. The aggregate winner of the series will qualify for the Americas 2 spot in England in Pool B with South Africa, Samoa, Scotland and the Asia 1 qualifier.

Fifth Third Bank Stadium will host Atlanta 7s, the second leg of the 2013-14 IRB Women’s Sevens World Series, Feb 15-16. Those who purchase two-day passes for Atlanta 7s will receive a 20-percent discount on tickets for the RWC Qualifier. Discount codes will be emailed to ticket purchasers.

The Eagles finished a 10-match 2013 season with two consecutive wins against Georgia and Russia Nov. 16 and Nov. 23, respectively. Samu Manoa and Chris Wyles, who each play professionally in the Aviva Premiership in England, scored tries in the 28-7 victory against Russia and will be available for selection in March.

To qualify for RWC 2015, the Eagles must total more points scored in the two-leg series, a feat they failed to accomplish in two matches against Canada this past August. In the qualifying process for RWC 2011 in New Zealand, the Eagles defeated Uruguay twice: 27-22 in Montevideo and 27-6 in Lauderhill, Fla.

The Eagles Select XV side finished second at the 2013 IRB Americas Rugby Championship in Canada in October, thanks to a 30-10 win against Canada and a 20-8 defeat of Uruguay.

Why are the Eagles not playing in Glendale, Colorado? Mile High a real home field advantage on all international test matches, plus there is something to be said for the players having the same home field pitch.
