BOULDER, Colo. – Due to the large demand around the world for tickets, The Legacy Agency announced that Ticketmaster will provide easy, convenient ticket sales globally for the historic USA Eagles match against the New Zealand All Blacks Nov. 1 at Chicago’s Soldier Field. The match, presented by AIG and televised by NBC, has already sold over 70 percent of the stadium’s capacity, with demand for the remaining tickets expanding globally. The Legacy Agency, USA Rugby’s partner, is the exclusive worldwide commercial agent for the match, which kicks off at 3:00 P.M. CT.
“The response we have seen to this match has been tremendous, and we are very pleased to now be able to make sure that every fan, whether that of the Eagles, the All Blacks, or the passionate rugby fan, no matter where he or she lives, can get access to tickets so conveniently,” said USA Rugby Chief Executive Officer Nigel Melville.
“The All Blacks are proud to be returning to the United States and have been duly impressed by the response of the fans in the States and appreciate USA Rugby’s efforts to ensure that our fans from all around the world now have even greater access to tickets for our match with the Eagles,” said Nigel Cass, general manager relationships, planning and operations, New Zealand Rugby.
“The global response for tickets to the match shows the great interest that rugby is gaining in the United States, and we are pleased to work with Ticketmaster to make sure that fans around the world now have easy and fast access to tickets, as well,” said Legacy CEO Mike Principe. “This will be one of the ‘must-attend’ events on the global sports calendar for 2014 and we are working to make sure no one misses it, especially with the limited amount of tickets that remain.”
The All Blacks will visit the United States for an international match for the first time since 1980. The Eagles have only met the two-time and reigning IRB Rugby World Cup champions three times since their inception over 100 years ago. Soldier Field, the home of the N.F.L.’s Chicago Bears, has been scaled to approximately 61,500 seats for the match, meaning that over 70 percent of the tickets have already been sold in the first 20 days, an unprecedented amount for rugby in the United States.
