BOULDER, Colo. – Fourteen of the nation’s top rugby schools will descend upon Stanford, Calif., this weekend, May 9-11, to contest four national championships at the 2014 Emirates Airline USA Rugby College National Championships.
Steuber Rugby Stadium will be the host of the Women’s Division I, Women’s Division II, and Men’s Division I-AA Semifinals Friday and Saturday before the respective Championship matches Saturday and Sunday.
After 20 grueling weeks of regular season rugby in Men’s Division 1A and three weeks of playoff play, Saint Mary’s College and Life University qualified for the National Championship match in Stanford, which will kick off Saturday, May 10, at 7:00 P.M. PT.
All 13 matches, including the three consolation matches Sunday, May 11, will be played at Steuber Rugby Stadium and streamed live – uninterrupted – in high-definition on USA Rugby TV. USA Rugby TV is available around the world for free and has previously been home to the broadcasts of the 2013 IRB Women’s Nations Cup, the 2013 USA Rugby Club 7s National Championship, and the 2013 USA Rugby College 7s National Championship, garnering more than 500,000 visitors since its launch in January 2013.
USA Rugby TV is the home of the USA Rugby National Championships Series and provides fans with an updated schedule of each event, as well as a chat room to interact with fellow fans.
“Live-streaming is the future of sport,” USA Rugby Collegiate Director Rich Cortez said. “The IRB streams its Sevens World Series online to the entire world and we are very pleased to be able to provide our fans and fans of rugby a medium with the ability to watch the College National Championships wherever they are.”
Admission to Steuber Rugby Stadium this weekend is $10 per day, which is to be paid at the gate in cash prior to entry.
