BOULDER, Colo. -- The USA Rugby College Management Council is excited to announce the elections process for the first-ever board of College Congress Representatives.
Previously, USA Rugby Congress Members were chosen to represent all divisions of rugby within their respective Territorial Unions. Those divisions included youth/high school, college, and senior clubs.
With the growth and organization of the Youth and College Departments, the Board of Directors has approved the transition of the body to include Representatives from these two Divisions. Each College Region shall elect one individual to serve as its representative to Congress.
“This election signifies a change in the approach that USA Rugby is taking in the structure of representation throughout college rugby,” USA Rugby Collegiate Director Rich Cortez said. “We are moving towards putting college rugby into the hands of the people who are fully invested in the sport at the college level.”
Interested candidates from each College Region are encouraged to apply. Applications and terms of the position can be found online on the College Resources page. http://usarugby.org/ college-resources.
- Applications will be accepted beginning Feb. 7, 2014, and must be received no later than 9:00 P.M. MT Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.
- The list of Candidates from each Region will be provided to the College Officers by Feb. 28, 2014.
- The formal elections shall be held March 14-16, 2014, via electronic voting by each College Officer for his/her regional representative.
“There are so many good rugby people out there in our community,” said Cortez. “They are capable of bringing new ideas and initiatives to the table, and we need to hear from them.”
