2013 College National Championship schedules announced

BOULDER, Colo. – USA Rugby announced today the playoff formats for the Men’s and Women’s collegiate divisions for the 2012-13 season.
Men's Division
The Men's Competitions Committee (Kevin Battle, Chair; Pat Kane; Tom Rooney; Josh Smith; and Todd Streeter) developed the following playoff formats for USA Rugby Division I-AA and Division II.
Division I-AA includes a combination of postseason assignments for the automatic qualifying teams emerging from the twelve eligible college conferences, and four at-large opportunities for otherwise deserving and eligible teams. Division II incorporates a combination of postseason slots for the automatic qualifying teams emerging from the 12 eligible LAU/GU leagues/conferences, and four at-large opportunities for otherwise deserving and eligible teams.
Teams may appeal for an at-large consideration by completing and returning the At-Large Application, which have been distributed to all Independent teams and conferences. This form is also available on the USA Rugby website.

Women's Division
The Women's Competitions Committee (Bill Lucas, Chair; Austin Hall; Emily Ogata; Pete Steinberg; and Roger Riley) developed the following playoff formats for USA Rugby Division I and Division II.
Division I includes a combination of postseason assignment for the automatic qualifying teams emerging from the eight eligible college conferences, and eight at-large opportunities for otherwise deserving and eligible teams. Division II incorporates a combination of 21 LAU/GU leagues and autonomous conferences.
For Division II, and potentially Division I, there will be a round of play-in contests the weekend of April 5-7; the specific date will be determined by the participating teams. The WCC will set the play-in games in a manner that allows the visiting team a reasonable drive to the match. At-large selections will be filled by deserving teams from a pool of Independent and/or deserving runners-up. Not all at-large slots will necessarily be filled. Some teams may receive an automatic berth directly into the Regionals due to geographical isolation/distance from potential play-in opponents.
Teams may appeal for an at-large consideration by completing and returning the At-Large Application, which have been distributed to all Independent teams and conferences. This form is also available on the USA Rugby website.

In Mens D1AA, Why is the West Region playing its Regional Playoffs in Texas ? Outside of the WEST Geographic Region.I thought the process or regionalization was to reduce travel costs ? Texas is not in the West, its is half way across the country which means air travel will be required (major expense) for everyone.Whoever Made this decision is not grasping the concept of regionalization,it certainly does not promote the advancment of the best teams as only 1 can progress out of each region.Too Bad if the two best teams in the county just happen to be in the same Region,The trade off for this should have been reduced travel expenses by playing your Regional Playoffs within your own Region.
