About

USC Rugby has a proud history in Southern California. The team was founded in the 1910 when a British professor on tenure brought the game to the university. Today rugby is one of most popular and decorated club sports here at USC.

USC Men's rugby team participates in Division I-AA in the Gold Coast Intercollegiate Rugby Conference. The Trojans play 15's side rugby conference games in the spring against schools like CSU Fullerton, SBCC, USD , UCSD, CSU Long Beach, UC Irvine, and Claremont Colleges. In the fall the Trojans participate in 15's pre-season games with colleges in the area and in 7's tournaments such as the PAC 12 Rugby 7's and the California Rugby 7's. USC placed 10th in the PAC 12 in 2012.

The team is coached by the legendary Dave Lytle who started his rugby at USC in 1983 and continued to play until 1986. He has head-coached the team since 1988.
