The University at Albany Men’s Rugby club competes with teams throughout the Northeast. UAlbany enjoys a strong tradition of athletic success combined with community and campus support. The UAlbany Rugby team is a member of the East Coast Rugby Conference and competes annually with these "American International, Boston College, UConn, Northeastern, Southern CT, Middlebury College and UMass . We participate in Division 1AA of USA Rugby college rugby.
Founded in 1974", the University at Albany Rugby Club has a long tradition of excellence. The club operates on the varsity model. UAlbany has 3 USA Certified coaches and an Athletic Trainer on staff. The team travels via charter bus to away games and competes in a full inter-collegiate schedule. Each player recieves a full kit. The Rugby Club participates in many tournaments throughout the year.

Prospective Players

The Rugby Club at UAlbany accepts all interested students, of all skill and fitness levels, with any or no rugby experience. Any students interested in playing need only come out to practice and join in. No experience necessary. We welcome players with experience, and players that are new to the game. We have over 50 players on the squad and everyone gets to play. We practice every Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00PM-6:00PM on the Intramural Field. Only equipment necessary for practice is cleats and a mouthguard. No level of experience is required, the majority of our starting side began playing rugby in college with no previous experience.
