The Bruin Rangers represent the University of California Los Angeles and compete at the Division I level of USA collegiate rugby. We are an officially supported club sport of UCLA Recreation.
"It all began in 1975 when several inspired, athletic UCLA students decided to found a women's rugby club. Following the lead of the national champion UCLA men's rugby club, the young team worked hard and soon earned a berth in the National USA Championships. The Bruins captured third place in their first appearance and earned the respect of the predominantly East Coast participants. Thus began the great tradition of women's rugby at UCLA. During the 1980's and 1990's, many teams in the area have come and gone, but one remains to dominate the Southern California Women's Rugby League: The UCLA Bruins. Throughout the years, the Bruin Ruggers have enjoyed a strong relationship with the university. UCLA supports our team with the generous use of finely manicured fields for practice and games, medical coverage at home matches, and assistance with administrative details from the Club Sports Office. Our former coach, Tam Breckenridge was a member of the National Championship UCLA basketball team. Taking up rugby after graduation, she became a member of the USA Women's National Rugby team and was an integral member on the USA's 1991 World Championship team. During the past seasons, she has guided the Bruins to the National Championship Tournament five times. Beginning in 2005, Meenon Gunanayagam, Erin Kane, Michelle Kwandam, Camilla Liou, Erin Murray, Shu Ong and Diana Tran formed the collegiate side of UCLA Women's Rugby and the club began competing in the collegiate division of the Southern California Women's Rugby Union."

Prospective Players

"We look for girls that have a love for rugby like we do. Go hard or go home! The Bruin Rangers accepts all interested students, of all skill and fitness levels, with any or no rugby experience. Any students interested in playing need only come out to practice and join in. No experience necessary. We welcome players with experience, and players that are new to the game. We have over 30 players on the squad and everyone gets to play. We practice every Monday (5:30 -7:30pm), Wednesday(5-7pm) and Friday(7-9pm) on the IM Field. Only equipment necessary for practice is cleats and a mouthguard. No level of experience is required, the majority of our starting side began playing rugby in college with no previous experience.
