About

The Philadelphia University RFC is a university club sport that competes with teams throughout the northeast region. PURFC provides all of the members of the university with the opportunity to be introduced, taught, coach, referee, and play rugby at the collegiate level. We do this while spreading the unique brotherhood of rugby union football. We also spread the game of rugby in all its aspects to our community, through service and other hands-on activities off of the pitch. Rugby is a well known organization on our campus and provides a great opportunity for students to meet new people, while having an exciting and productive time doing it. The Philadelphia University Rugby team is a member of the EPRU Small College Rugby Conference and competes annually with Albright, Bucknell, F&M, PSU Berks, Susquehanna, Widener, Swarthmore, Ursinus, and Washington College. We participate in Divison III of USA Rugby college rugby. We practice on our stunningly unique campus and play our games on the great PCOM pitch.
Founded in 2011, Philadelphia University RFC hopes to turn its blossoming program into one with a long and rich tradition of excellence. Beginning in 2010 with a handful of Philadelphia University students playing with Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, PURFC as of fall 2012 is a DIII rugby team.

Prospective Players

Philadelphia University RFC accepts all interested students, of all skill and fitness levels, with any or no rugby experience. Any students interested in playing need only come out to practice and join in. We have over 25 players on the squad and everyone gets to play. We practice every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5-7 pm at Ronson Field or PCOM pitch (all details subject to change). Only equipment necessary for practice is cleats and a mouth guard. No level of experience is required; the majority of our starting side began playing rugby in college with no previous experience.
