Minnesota State-Moorhead


The MSUM Women's Rugby team is a university club sports team from Minnesota State University Moorhead. The team is known as the "Hummerz". The MSUM Women's Rugby team competes with teams throughout the Minnesota Rugby Union as a D3 team. We are a member of the USA Rugby union. The MSUM Women's Rugby team enjoys a strong tradition of athletic success combined with community and campus support. The MSUM Women's Rugby team has great support from alumni players as well as fans. We work hard to have a positive image during competition as well as in the community.
Founded in 2002, the MSUM Women's Rugby team has a long tradition of excellence, including regional accomplishments. In 2011 and 2012, the team advanced to the Final Four Playoffs within Minnesota D3. In 2011, the team placed third overall, and in 2012, the team advanced to the championship and took second overall. The MSUM Women's Rugby team was nationally ranked #20 and #14 in the NSCRO in 2011 and 2012, respectively. The Hummerz annually host a Prom-Dress Tournament where men and women collegiate teams compete in dresses.

Prospective Players

The MSUM Women's rugby team accepts all interested students, of all skill and fitness levels, with any or no rugby experience. Any students interested in playing need only come out to practice and join in. No experience necessary. We welcome players with experience, and players that are new to the game. We have over 23 players on the squad and everyone gets to play. We practice Tuesday-Thursday from 5-6:30 pm behind Nemzek Hall. Only equipment necessary for practice is cleats, athletic clothing, and a mouthguard. No level of experience is required, the majority of our starting side began playing rugby in college with no previous experience.
