Founded in 1996 by a group of student athletes, the Marist College Women’s Rugby team has a long tradition of excellence. Beginning as a part of the Metropolitan New York Division II conference, the Marist College Women’s Rugby team held four straight Divisional Championships from 1998-2001. In 2008, the team was ranked 2nd in the Northeast and earned a bid to the National Championships. That spring, the team was ranked 16th in the country. At the end of the 2009 DII Collegiate National Championships, the Marist College Women’s Rugby team was ranked 6th in the country. The fall season of 2010 was also strong, as the team went undefeated. Finishing 3rd in the division in the fall season of 2011, the team continued their success in the spring, winning the Four-Leaf Tournament held in New York City, and finishing as runners up in the Plate playoffs during the Cherry Blossom Tournament held in Washington D.C. In the fall of 2012, the Marist College Women’s Rugby team joined the Tri-State Conference, and took the #4 spot in the playoffs. The Marist College Women's Rugby team looks forward to their 2013 spring season, as well as to the future accomplishments of the team.
