About

The Indiana Women's Rugby Club is a Club Sport Federation member on Indiana University's campus. Through this partnership, the club enjoys access to various outdoor practice and playing locations and an indoor training facility in the winter. It's led by head coach, Vaughn Mitchell, and various gifted assistant coaches. The team is a part of the College DI division and plays in the Big 10 conference, consisting of Purdue, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, and Illinois.
IUWRC began in 1996 in Bloomington, IN. Though the club started off as a social club without a coach, the players were successful enough to keep the club alive until the addition of a head coach in 2006. Starting in 2007, the club had its first successes at a DI level involving 2 sweet 16 appearances, numerous tournament wins, and an appearance at the inaugural 7s nationals tournament. In 2012, IU placed 2nd in the Big 10 in 15s and finished 1st in the inaugural Big 10 7s tournament.

Prospective Players

We encourage anyone who is interested in rugby to come out to a practice and see if it is for them. We take pride in our athleticism; however no sport experience is necessary. We have over 30 active club members and each sees playing time on the pitch. Our practice days and time depend on the season and all information is available via the club's personal website. Those interested should contact head coach, Vaughn Mitchell, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
