Davenport

About

Davenport University Rugby is a comparatively young collegiate program. Getting its start in 2009, Davenport was a trend setter as one of the first small school rugby programs in the country to adopt and run with a full varsity model. In its short existence, the team has helped turn a national spotlight on the university, winning back to back USA Rugby D1AA National Championships in the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons and garnering a 6th place finish in the 2013 USA Rugby Collegiate 7s National tournament.

Seeking continued development, Davenport made the jump to D1A in the fall of 2012, testing its rugby aptitude against some of the top clubs in the country on a weekly basis. The 2013-14 season brought the most recent playoff appearance for the Panthers, as they made a run into the quarterfinals, knocking off a tough West Point side in the first round before falling to another strong varsity model club and conference foe in Lindenwood University.

Moving forward, Davenport University Rugby seeks to build upon its past success on the field, while continuing to provide one of the country’s premier college rugby experiences to its student athletes.
