About

Founded in 1978 at Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Women's Rugby (DWRC) has a long tradition of excellence, including twelve appearances in the Collegiate Division I U.S. National Tournament, five Elite Eight finishes, two Northeastern Rugby Union Championships, three New England Rugby Union Championships, and nine Ivy League titles.
"The DWRC was founded in the spring of 1978, when a women’s rugby team from Concord, NH, sent information about rugby to the women's athletics office at Dartmouth. Several women liked the idea, and got together to form the DWRC. The club went hunting for a coach and turned to the men's rugby club, where they found Dave Van Wie '79. That spring, Van Wie whipped up a team that ended their first season 3-0. Since then, the DWRC has had a long tradition of excellence, including eleven appearances in the Collegiate Division I U.S. National Tournament, three Elite Eight finishes, two Northeastern Rugby Union Championships, three New England Rugby Union Championships, and nine Ivy League titles. The DWRC has also toured every year since 1987, visiting rugby teams all over North America and Europe. With the completion of the Corey Ford Rugby Clubhouse in 2005, Dartmouth College Women's and Men's Rugby now have the facilities to match their incredibly rich team traditions and history. "
