Colgate Rugby was founded in 1966 at Colgate University in beautiful Hamilton, NY. The club has produced a number of men who have been involved at different levels with national teams. Colgate has long been known for being an elite academic school with top-notch athletics.

In the 2000s, we moved to Division III team to Division II, and reignited a tradition of touring in Ireland and England. After receiving two generous alumni endowments, the club has been able to retain full-time coaching and make improvements to our field. The club plays on Academy Field, a picturesque pitch located on Colgate's iconic Oak Drive with a view of campus.

Recent years have brought continued success, with an undefeated fall 2011 season (13-0) and berths in the national tournament for spring 2012 and 2013, reaching the DII round of 8. Coach David Chapman took the helm the fall 2013, steering the club into the DII round of 32.

As of spring 2014, Colgate Men will compete in Division 1AA as part of the Empire Conference. We played a full competitive Sevens season in the spring, and will play Fifteens in the fall.

Prospective Players

We field 2 league sides and a freshman team, and train daily throughout the year, using Colgate's ample athletic training facilities. We have film sessions and train for both Sevens and Fifteens in the spring.
