Clarion University


The Clarion University Women's Rugby Club is a member in good standing with U.S.A. Rugby, the Allegheny Rugby Union as a Division II Women Collegiate Club and is a recognized student organization at Clarion University. Our fall league schedule begins in early September and consists of matches versus West Virginia University, California University of Pa, Slippery Rock University and Indiana University of PA. The club has participated in spring season competitions such as the NYC 4-Leafs Tournament, Ohio Rugby Classic, N.I.U. Tournament of Champions as well as tours to Florida and Canada. The Clarion Women’s Rugby Club hosts the annual “Rugby Night in Clarion” charity match to benefit the Clarion V.F.W. care package program. The club also sponsors the “Fight Like a Girl” match to raise awareness of domestic violence. As a part of our continued community service, the Clarion Women’s Rugby Club actively participates in the development of High School rugby in our local community. Players volunteer as assistant coaches for the Rocky Grove Girl’s High School Rugby club.

Prospective Players

The Clarion University Women’s Rugby Club is a recognized Club sport that is open to all eligible Clarion University female students. We are continually working to increase our membership through active recruitment within the University student body. We welcome all students who are interested in learning the game of rugby and NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!! Our typical practice schedule is Monday-Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 and Friday’s 5:00-6:30. Practices are held at Clarion University Memorial Stadium either on the turf or grass practice fields. Cleats and mouth guards are recommended for all practice sessions. New members are always welcome to join the club throughout the fall and spring semesters.
