About

Currently, ASU Rugby has three sides competing at the collegiate level. The “Academy” team participates in the new Southern California Small Colleges Conference and Junior Varsity and Varsity sides will compete nationaly. All players are trained to compete at top levels through weightlifting and nutrition plans regimented to meet performance standards. Practices are held Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Our practices are held at the Sun Devil Fitness Complex fields. Club members are provided with a complementary team trainer and physical therapist that ensure that safety is administered at all times. In addition to benefits received within ASU, players are given the opportunity to participate in rugby exchange programs such as with the University of Queensland, University of Leicester, University of Leeds, and University of Waikato. All team members of ASU Rugby are embraced by a brotherhood that goes beyond club involvement on the field as well. We pride ourselves not only as a competitive rugby team, but also as a student organization that provides its members with invaluable life experiences. We strive to provide our players with opportunities to develop as students and young professionals in a variety of ways. To name a few, members of our team are exposed to professional development workshops, leadership opportunities, and involvement in a variety of philanthropic activities.
Since 1975, the Arizona State University Men’s Rugby Team has been one of the most successful teams at ASU. Our mission is to promote the sport of rugby through representing our university at the highest competitive levels and achieve excellence through hard work and commitment to our team culture. As a team consistently ranked in the Top 15 nationally over the past five years, we aim to build off previous team successes and continue to produce USA Rugby All-American representatives. Led by Head Coach, Gary Lane, the ASU Rugby program encompasses a highly experienced and specialized coaching staff from around the world. Our seven coaches are committed to the development of over 90 players in order to become one of the most recognized programs in 7’s and 15’s competition.
