This workshop is aligned with the ARM (American Rugby Model) designed to continue the learning process and education of a coach with a focus on the progressive implementation.
The new coaching structure focuses on coaching the right thing at the right time with the best interest of the players at hand. The level 200 courses consist of a required prerequisite online session and a 1-day in person workshop. The shift in theory in the new course gets coaches on the field with ample opportunity to put into practice there coaching style and technical application. T
his course is aligned with the NFHS (National High School Federation), interscholastic coach certification and is required at a minimum for every USAR registered coach teaching the contact game.
The goal of this workshop is for coaches to refine their coaching skills and knowledge with a focus on teaching the technical aspects of the game through the use of games, questioning and progression. Throughout the workshop coaches will not only get hands on experience but participant in continuous feedback, evaluation and a peer review processes aimed at improving and creating more well rounded coaching approach.
How Do I Register?
In the past, club administrators may have registered coaches for their club. Coaches are urged to complete registration themselves as the process requires both a social security number and completion of certification requirements. What Will be Expected of Coaches?
All Coaches will need to be certified in the new program. The minimum USA Rugby coach certification requirement will entail the completion of the Level 100 Coaching Course and the Player Protection Package. These courses will be provided online at no additional cost and concentrate on familiarizing coaches with the game and essential ethical issues including player safety and abuse. Are Coaches Still Eligible to Dual Role?
Yes. For members to register multiple roles with USA Rugby (coach and player for example), it will be necessary to complete the Dual Role request. This form can be filled out electronically. To locate the form, go to our membership forms page (http://www.usarugby.org/membership-forms). The very last link on the top of the page is entitled “dual role registration” form. Be sure to fill out every field accurately. A member from our membership department will reach out to you if there is a price increase involved with your registration.
