The first weekend of Women's Premier League play saw four games with brilliant individual performances that led to hat tricks in two of the four matches.  

In the first match of the weekend the women from Keystone outscored their Beantown counterparts 19-5 in a defensive struggle on the East Coast.  Stacy Baker of Keystone converted two tries to help her team get the first win of the season. 

In the second match of the weekend between the Berkeley All-Blues and the DC Furies, Kelly Griffin of the All-Blues came away with three tries to help lead her team to a 52-12 victory.  Griffin has continued her stunning form coming off two National Championships at the Club Sevens (where Griffin won the MVP) and All-Star Sevens Championships this summer. 

The Twin City Amazons faced the Minnesota Valkyries this weekend, where Lynelle Kugler of the Amazons put on a remarkable three-try performance in their 62-10 victory.  

It was a tough day at the office for hosts New York Rugby Club in their WPL opener against the San Diego Surfers, with the West Coast visitors running up 34 point score line and holding the New Yorkers to just a penalty in 80 minutes. Casey Fields scored a brace of tries, but had a strong supporting cast that all contributed to the 31-point win.
