Two titans of Division I rugby, Glendale and Olympic Club, are set to clash in the DI Men's Club National Championship on Sunday at Infinity Park in Glendale. Glendale put the hurt on the Boston Irish Wolfhounds in the semifinal in front of a rowdy home crowd Saturday night. Dewon Reed was devastating to the Wolfounds' defense and will be a massive concern for Olympic Club.
Olympic has some firepower of their own. Former Cal Golden Bear, Keegan Englebrecht was precise with the boot and former Eagle Kort Schubert was a handful for Palmer in the other DI semifinal on Saturday. Rikus Pretorius was also a huge asset for Olympic in the semifinal.
The battles to watch will be Glendale flyhalf and USA international, Ata Malifa v. Engelbrecht. But Glendale also has some firepower off the bench in the form of Alec Parker, a USA international with three Rugby World Cups under his belt and a hulking frame in the lineouts and breakdowns.
The final will be webcast live on USA Rugby's UStream channel: www.ustream.tv/usarugby.
